Jaco

Jaco is the largest town closest to where I live - about 20 minutes up the coast.   Jaco is known for clubs, casinos, restaurants, prostitutes, drugs, surf.....just about anything you are looking for a "good time" in Costa Rica.  To be fair, there a few nice grocery stores, a farmer's market on Friday, 2 good ice cream places, a movie theater, shops, etc, etc.  It is a huge tourist destination and during the high season - mid December thru April - Jaco is the happening place.

On the morning I went to the doctor to finally get my infected finger checked out - I had come early by bus and needed to wait awhile before I could see him.  I walked down to the beach to kill time.  I think these photos make Jaco look pretty inviting.  To be honest I have had a few over the top good times here, but my personal preference is beautiful Esterillos Oeste. To me, Jaco is a necessary evil..something for everyone while here on vacation, but to me - in and out as quick as possible is usually the goal :)

"Pee Aqui" - Yes this is for real.  I saw this as I was walking down a sidewalk on the backside of a restaurant.  Pee Here - No misunderstanding as what this is used for :)
