Weekend Fun under the Big Top

There were several birthdays this weekend and to help make it all over the top special - Lisa arranged to have a huge tent set up at LowTide.  When I walked down there Friday night - I had no idea - was totally blown away.  Pinatas and balloons - awesome DJ that kept everyone rocking.  One of the best parties ever at LowTide. Saturday - same thing - pretty chill but the tent made it seem so much more special.  Mickey on keyboard and flute, Mike on harmonica, Steve on guitar - perfect vibe for a sweet afternoon.  Meanwhile - Lisa is overflowing with new ideas - one being the most delicious drink ever.  It consists of Smirnoff vodka, Hershey's chocolate syrup and coconut milk in a shot glass.  It seriously tastes like liquid almond joy.  It took awhile for a handful of us to come up with the name but when we pulled it together we all knew this was it - Almendro (which is almond in spanish) Delisioso - which it truly is.

Thank YOU Lisa for your great smile, positive attitude, endless energy and all you do to make sure your patrons at LowTide always have a great time.  We all simply love you.

Isla Tortuga

A visit to Tortuga (Turtle) Island is like spending the day in a Corona commercial.  White sand, turquoise water, tall swaying palm trees -simply beautiful.

With Ray and Lisa having 3 friends visit from LA, Desirae's friends Jessica and Nicole, Kealy and I for a total of 10 - 5:30 am Thursday morning found all of us walking the road out to the highway to catch the 6 am - standing room only - bus to Jaco.

This was my 5th trip there.  I have been by private fishing boat with my friends Doug and Melanie from CA, the death defying 3 hour tour back in 2008 with Chad and Erin, the fancy 100 passenger catamaran with the sunset cruise thru the islands at Christmas time with fancy drinks in hand, last years' wild birthday bash along with 24 other friends for Cailin's 22nd birthday.  Each and every one a ton of fun and so happy I went.

The snorkeling is what I enjoy the most.  This trip was taken on a day when the huge swell that came all the way from Antarctica - seriously.....gave us the biggest waves of the year so far and made the water so mirky it was hard to see......not good.  On the other hand, they had horses for the first time.  Ray, Lisa, Desirae and I were all over that.  A ride to the top of the island, a little spin on the beach - short but sweet.

One of the things I truly love and appreciate about my life here in Costa Rica is having the time to get to enjoy friends and all the new people I meet.  Even to this very day I am still amazed that I live here, that I am lucky enough to live a very simply life in a very special place.

God Bless Costa Rica
